As far as sports go, Auburn is one of the charter members of the Southeastern Conference (SEC). Their teams are called the Tigers, and they compete in Division I-A of the NCAA and in the Western Division of the SEC. The official colors of burnt orange and navy blue were chosen by Dr. George Petrie, Auburn’s first football coach.
